Temperatures in Copping during the 'Firestorm' were 48 degC; ahead of the 'Fireball' in Dunalley, they reached 54 degC. Days later, when the electricity company crews started to replace the burnt power poles, after the fire had gone through, the first poles rammed in the ground charred - the temperature in the ground measured around 300 degC.
